June 23-30, 2003
We flew into Montreal, Quebec, rented a car and drove across Quebec,
Maine, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, on our way to Fundy Bay.
The Fundy Bay area, which lies between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia,
is famous for having the highest/lowest tides in the world.
They can change up to 45 feet in about a 6 1/2 hour time frame.
On the way back to Montreal for our plane ride home,
we also passed through Northern New Hampshire and Vermont.
We visited Mount Washington New Hampshire, the highest
point on the Eastern coast of the U.S. (6,288 feet).
It is also famous for having the highest recorded wind gust
in the world, recorded on April 12, 1934 (231 mph).
By the way, no one forgot to tell us that French speaking Quebec,
means the province of Quebec, not just the City. That includes road signs!
So we had to learn basic French on the fly leaving the Montreal
airport with the rental car, which added to the adventure.
But then again when your in a large city and don't know where
you are to start with, little things like knowing what direction your going,
doesn't really mean that much.
The French food was great, except it all came with a side of gravy?
